Description :
Day 1 : we meet at Vex before transferring by bus to the base of the Grande Dixence Dam, where we are immediately struck by the immensity of this towering structure. A short cable car ride takes us to the top of the dam, where we take the time to learn about this impressive engineering master piece and admire the Lac des Dix, the reservoir created by the dam. The day's hike follows a scenic balcony trail along the lake, with stunning views of high peaks and glaciers visible at the far end of the valley. A final ascent leads us to our mountain hut for the night, nestled at the foot of the Cheilon Glacier.

Day 2 : after a good night's sleep, we are refreshed and ready to start the short (but high) ascent to the pass that will take us into the lush green slopes of the Arolla valley. Along the way, we admire several moraines and glacial tongues that help us understand how these seemingly immobile giants shape the landscape. In the afternoon, we will take welcome breaks in the shade of the Arolla pines, the king of the mountain trees, and learn some of their secrets. We then make our way to our comfortable hotel accommodation in the village of Arolla, where we can also explore the charming village.

Day 3 : for our last day, we hike on a balcony trail through forests, fields, and lush meadows. The scent of pine needles and the panoramic view of the valley accompany us on our way. We come across small hamlets with characteristic stone roofs, providing pleasant breaks in this ambiance of another time. After a final descent and a last look at Mont Collon (3637m) and Pigne Arolla (3790m) with their surrounding glaciers, we reach the bus that takes us back to our meeting point.
