Description :

  • Day 1 : we begin this day with a pleasant switchback trail through the forest. Along the way, we pass through the traditional village of Gietroz. As we continue our ascent and make one final push, the Emosson dam and its emerald lake suddenly come into view. The contrast of colors in this landscape is absolutely stunning. Our route then takes us right up close to the dam, which we cross while admiring this impressive engineering piece. After some easy flat walking and one final short climb, we arrive at our mountain hut for the night, located at the foot of the old dam.

  • Day 2 : we start off this second day with a gradual warm-up on a trail that traverses along the lake. We enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the place, which is quite touristy during the day but still calm and unspoiled in the early hours of the morning. The trail then gently ascends until we reach a highlight of our journey; there, fossilized in the rock by the work of time, we discover footprints of ancient dinosaurs ! We take a moment to learn a little more about these tracks. After this break, we resume our walk for the final ascent of the Cheval Blanc. From the summit, we admire a magnificent 360° panorama. Then we begin our descent, between a mineral course and a wild valley that brings us back to the main dam, from where we take the bus to reach the Châtelard train station.
